Hospital rooftop solar panel cleaning

We recently undertook the solar panel cleaning on the rooftop of a prestigious hospital building in London.

The PV system has approximately 500 solar modules which had been installed during an exciting new scheme to provide integrated health care to the people of North London.

The facility was built in 2013 and provides an impressive range of services. The solar pv system is mounted on the women and children's unit, which is linked to the main hospital by a tunnel known as 'The umbilical cord'. The scheme achived a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating for sustainability, and intergrates a number of features including a green sedum roof, photovoltaic panels above its plant room and and energy-efficient combined heat and power system.

Our trained working at heights cleaning operative team undertook the work using a harness in 'work restraint', attached to a certified mansafe system. This effectively means that they are connected to a safety life-line via a harness that does not allow them to fall.

The solar panels had a build-up of dirt which was causing cellular shading and therefore reducing the amount of power that could be produced. The solar panel cleaning was completed on schedule and it was a great feeling knowing that Solar Panel Cleaning Services Ltd have helped the NHS to maximise the output of the pv system and therefore produce cleaner, greener electricity while also helping them to lower future energy bills.
